HBCC Lockdown Tournament begins tomorrow
Tomorrow night Hebden Bridge Chess Club will begin an 11-player single round robin tournament at a classical time limit similar to the regular evening league matches (90 mins for all moves) that we're all missing so much at the moment. All the games will be played right here on Chess.com, so even if you aren't taking part you can kibitz and play 'Guess the move'. Round 1 games start at 19:30 (the players have the option of starting earlier if they like) and you can follow the games by finding the participants and looking in on their games whilst they are in progress.
Here are the round 1 games complete with Chess.com user names (in brackets) so that you can follow them easily.
John Kerrane (JohnKrrn) – Matthew Parsons (parsonsm)
Pete Leonard (PeteLeonard) – Martyn Hamer (MerryHatMan)
John Allan (johnallan39) – Dave Shapland (inter_mezzo)
Andrew Clarkson (AndrewClarkson) – Dave Wedge (fruitcake67)
Chris Marsden (shakyamuni1) – Andy Leatherbarrow (Scndidarkknight)
BYE - Terry Sullivan
Some mouth watering games in prospect there I'm sure you'll agree. I hope some of you who aren't participating will enjoy kibitzing instead.
Because this tournament will be taking place over the next 11 weeks, we'll be re-locating our online rapid and blitz tournament to Wednesday nights and continuing our study evenings on Friday nights. This Wednesday the 22nd of April we'll be playing a 2 hour Arena Tournament starting at 19:30 - time limit will be 10 minutes each for all moves. Remember, in the Arena format, you play as many games as you can in 2 hours and the player with the most points at the end of the time limit is the winner. You get extra points awarded for streaks. Here's the link for anyone that wants to join us: https://www.chess.com/live#r=186866 Registration opens at 18:30
Stay safe and healthy everyone!
