Hebden Bridge Chess Club
Welcome to Hebden Bridge Chess Club - small, but beautifully made. We draw our membership mainly from the upper Calder Valley, from Sowerby Bridge to Todmorden, but several members travel from even further afield, so we must have something!
The club meets on Monday evenings at The Trades Club, Holme Street, Hebden Bridge from 6.00 p.m. to 7.15 p.m. (junior section) and from 7.30 p.m. (general club). We are a friendly active club, with four teams currently in the Calderdale Evening League. Our 'A' team are the current League 1 Champions.
We run an annual Lightning Chess competition, and a summer programme of analysis evenings, fixed-opening tournaments etc. However, we still have time for social chess - usually there is someone available to give you a game, and the opportunity for tuition and practice for recently-converted chess addicts.
We also run a junior section for younger players, and members have access to the Calderdale teams in the Yorkshire League, where new players are always in demand, and to information on chess congresses and other weekend events.
So, if you are new to chess, or an old hand who would like to return to active play, or even a computer player who would like to play someone who will chat to you about the game afterwards, why not give us a try? We are always particularly keen to welcome juniors and women players to the club.
