Highlights from Feb 3, 2020 Meeting

Thanks to those of you who attended our chess club meeting today.  I have a few notes to share:

1) Our executive committee was voted on and includes:

- Brianna Harris (President)

- Joseph Williams (Vice-President)

- George Yanakiev (Treasurer/Secretary)

2) Our meetings will occur on:

Mondays from 2-3 (Meetings and Games)

Wednesdays from 2-3 (Instructional Videos and Games)

Our next meeting is this Wednesday (February 5) from 2 pm - 3 pm.  We will begin our time together by watching two chess videos from Grand Master Sabrina Chevannes' Fritztrainer DVD on En Passant and Pawn Promotion. 

3) Brianna will attend the Student Alliance Meetings - for every meeting she attends, the club receives $35.

4) We will be starting a tournament on  https://www.chess.com/   If you don't have a free account, be sure to join.  Also, be sure to join our GRCC chess club.  Look for us at:  https://www.chess.com/club/grand-rapids-community-college
