How to win more

At my level, perhaps I should say, 'how to lose less' !

Let's face it - we are below average. Our group average rating is measly 1386. Just go to Team Matches page, you will find that in most of the matches, we lost. If we can bring up our average rating to 1550, we will see a dramatic change in our winning to losing ratio.

So how do we do it?

1. When you lose a game, get it analysed by computer. Only one free analysis per week is available, so choose which game you want to get analysed. There is no point in analysing a game where you blundered away a major piece (you already know why you lost). Get that game analysed where you will learn from mistakes that you did not know you made.

2. If you are playing 10 games per day in your limited time, then play only 5 for a month. Instead use the remaining time to play against computer at lowest level and win at least one game per day against it. Here if you are losing, do not waste time, start a new game immediately. After few days you will make less mistakes. You will also find out the opening moves the computer makes (which are book moves), so your game improves in this direction also.

3. Use chess tactics trainer - available free on this site. Free members get three problems per day to solve.

These things have helped me, I am sure they will help you too. They are available free and you do not have to depend on anyone.

We have joined chess.com to play chess because we enjoy playing chess. But this is also a fact that when we win, we enjoy more!
