Introducing: Pawngrabbers Weekly Fan Arena (With Prizes!)

First, thanks to all the fans who supported us during the PRO Chess League Summer Series. It was an incredibly tight division. We ended up in 3rd place in the division, which means we don't automatically qualify for the Summer playoffs but we will be in a Twitter poll of all 3rd place teams. The top 2 teams will still get to qualify and with your support that is very possible so keep an eye out for more news about that!

Next, to the main point of this post. In the run-up to the PRO Chess League qualifiers, the Pittsburgh Pawngrabbers will be running weekly fan arenas! These arenas will run every Saturday at 1 PM EST, beginning this Saturday, July 13th and running for 11 weeks until September 21, 2019. These fan arenas will be streamed on the Pittsburgh Pawngrabbers Twitch account at twitch.tv/pghpawngrabbers.

Format

Each arena will for 90 minutes and all you have to do to join is be in the Pittsburgh Pawngrabbers Fan Club! Simply join the arena inside Live Chess before the event begins, or at any point during the arena. The format will be 3/0 Standard, with other formats and time controls possibly introduced throughout the weeks.

Prizes

Points will be given to the top 5 places of any given week, with 1st through 5th place getting 5 to 1 points respectively. The fan with the most points at the end of the 11 weeks will win a free item from the Pawngrabbers merchandise store. Depending on participation, additional prizes may be added and the scoring system may be adjusted.
