Hey there, Team iOS!
I'm going to try to do a better job making noise about upcoming and new releases of our beloved app - starting today!.... admittedly with regard to some updates that came out last week. Gotta start somewhere!
We actually have had several maintenance releases lately. Happily, Apple's been great about getting some bug fixes through review quickly for us. But nobody came here to read about bug fixes!... Let's get to the good stuff that was added to the app recently.

A New Computer (Komodo)!
If you enjoy just sitting back for some casual sparring vs the app's engine opponent, this is huge news. Instead of 10 levels, there are now 20 (with estimated Elo ratings), and all of them play a much more "human" style of game than did our older engine. There's sure to be a perfect opponent for you, whatever your current level. And that new engine makes all of the app's coaching and analysis features more powerful too!

Achievements

Achievements
Earn badges for just about everything you do, both in the app and on the website. (We keep your collection in sync everywhere.) These will show your "true colors" as a chess-lover, whether you're a lover of Chess960, crazy about Tactics, a dedicated Tournament director - or all of the above!

Captured Pieces
You capture 'em, you keep 'em! iOS leads the way with a change that will shortly be everywhere: We've changed the layout of game screens so that captured pieces show on the side of the player who captured them. For one thing, this just makes material difference easier to grasp during a game: If you have a Knight by your username and your opponent doesn't, well, you're up a Knight!

Live Club vs Club Matches

Club vs Club
Here iOS catches up to the website a bit, allowing you to see, register, and compete in match play for all your Clubs' Live Matches!

"...and More!"
There were a lot of bug-fixes and minor improvements, but one of the nicest is that we updated our chess-emoji set so that they are generally a lot easier to read on all types of screens.
That's it for today! Let us know what you think, and happy mobile chessing! And if you love the update, please keep those App Store ratings fresh; they help immensely! Thank you!
