I am enclosing a copy of the note from the Johnson City Chess Club board for your review. Our club is open to all and on the board, there is additionally an "announcement" regarding the tournament on our Club page.
The tournament is also going to be publicized through USCF Tournament Life. We hope to draw a number of people from North Carolina. We had a few people come from the Asheville/Hendersonville area during our last event (we are just an hour north of Asheville) and hope to expand our reach for these events.
Johnson City Chess Club is conducting a USCF rated tourney Saturday, January 10, 2026 to be held at Mulligan's Gaming Pub, 308 E. Main St., Johnson City, 3rd floor. 5 round Swiss, G/30, Del 5. Open section EF $15 in advance, $20 at door. Scholastic section EF $8 in advance, $10 at door. Register between 9-9:45 am. Rds 10am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, 3pm, and 4:30pm. Bring boards, sets and clocks. JOHNSON CITY CHESS CLUB USCF-RATED SWISS TOURNAMENT, SATURDAY JANUARY 10, 2026
The Johnson City Chess Club is announcing that we'll be conducting a USCF rated tourney Saturday, January 10th 2026 to be held at Mulligan's Gaming Pub, 308 E. Main St., Johnson City, 3rd floor.
The open division will be a 5 round Swiss format, G/30, Del 5.
The scholastic division will be a 4 round Swiss format, G/30, Del 5.
Entry fees:
• Open: $15 in advance (PayPal–account number obtainable from TD–or cash at tournament when registering in advance), $20 at door or $15 with proof of Tennessee Chess Association membership.
• Scholastic: $8 in advance (PayPal–account number obtainable from TD–or cash at tournament when registering in advance), $10 at door or $8 with proof of Tennessee Chess Association membership.
Prizes:
• Open (based on 30): 1st $200, 2nd $100, 3rd $50 1st Under 1400 $50
• Scholastic (based on 10): 1st $40, 2nd $20, 3rd $10
Registration between 9-9:45 am on the second floor of Mulligan's Gaming Pub.
Rounds will begin at 10 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, 3 pm, and 4:30 pm
Please bring your own set and clock if possible.
Active USCF membership required to participate. In addition, the Tennessee Chess Association will be generously helping us by providing equipment for the tournament. With this in mind, we strongly recommend that you join the Tennessee Chess Association at tnchess.us so that they can continue to support tournaments like ours.
