@Princess, thanks for the comment. Yes, the tools available are amazing. My comment 'helpful?'. Well, I'm no chess-bot. Being a slow(more emphasis on slow) player, less than 1500, I feel that some of the analysis doesn't apply to me. Yes, bad moves are bad, good moves are good. I don't see the tools data reflect on the player's ability; there's room for improvement... I stand firm, a chess player comes to the game(rated) with their know-how and determination.

@Jimmy, you can also think of using references in correspondence as training. References aren’t infallible either. And if you’re just using opening explorer. That really just gives you the popularity of moves. You can actually follow opening explorer to a lost position if you’re not doing your critical analysis.

We are outrated on 21 of 22 boards in the match against Washington. Could use a few more players to make this match a bit more balanced.

Thanks for the reponse. I looked at the 'Openings'; I guess it could be helpful. I'm locked out of 'Explorer', being a Non-Member, so I haven't a comment. I have to disagree with any reference during a Rated Game. But, I'll continue playing OTB winning games for the great state of NC.

Most (all) sites that allow correspondence style chess allow databases and the use of opening books, but you do not have to use them. You can play "out of Book" so they can't either. Or you can play live chess

"To my TD (Tournament Director) crew and other chess organizers in North Carolina: It is with great sadness that I must announce that the 2020 U.S. Masters/North Carolina Open chess tournament has been officially canceled.  We are now at the point where legal restrictions, hotel logistics, and financial uncertainty make it impossible to hold this wonderful event.  The hotel does not believe it will be able to support the event at its facilities and the path towards reopening the North Carol...
