KOTH Is Moving To Chess.com/Variants

Dear Variant Fans,

We’d like to inform the variant community that the scheduling of the official, recurring King of the Hill (KotH) arenas and Swiss tournaments on Chess.com has been turned off. This was part of the planned transition of KotH moving to the Chess.com/variants.

In the coming days, KOTH will soon be fully removed from the main (live) server.

This is in line with Chess.com's broader shift in how variants are supported and delivered, as outlined in the official announcement here: Heads Up: Chess Variants Are Moving to chess.com/variants.

The good news is that KotH isn’t going away entirely — it will continue to be available on the Chess.com Variant Server, which is the dedicated home for chess variants. You can access the Variant Server at https://www.chess.com/variants, where KotH and many other beloved variants will still be supported and enjoyed by a passionate community.

Your games played on /play will remain in your archive. When you play your first game on /variants, the system will offer you the option to transfer your KOTH rating to the variant server.

We encourage KotH fans to make the move, join in the games, and help keep the variant’s unique spirit alive.
