Ladder tournament begins

So with 15 players taking part the ladder tournament begins tomorrow! For all those who haven't played in a ladder before:

1.     You can issue a challenge to a play 1 or 2 places above you.

2.     The challenge needs to be put on chess.com and Facebook to make sure everyone gets it.

3.     Challenges can be issued from Monday to Saturday (though you can play the game on Sunday). This stops last minute challenges from preventing a challenge from being taken.

4.     If you win, you swap places.

5.     If they don’t play the game (e.g. refusing) and it is their first game of the week, it is an automatic loss and you swap positions.

6.     When you receive the first challenge of the week you have to take it. Once you’ve played a challenge, you are free to refuse matches.

7.     Note that this doesn’t include you challenging someone higher up.

8.     Every other month we’ll work out the winners for that month (U1300 and open).

9.     The ladder is set up using chess.com grades with the lowest graded at the top.

10.    The player lower in the ladder plays white.

11.    You can play your match on whatever site, any time, any day. However, be aware that you should consider the opponent's choices. Its easy to quickly set up an account on chess.com/lichess if the opponent really feels passionate about that site.

A few of us have talked about the timing so we're looking to go for 30 minute each on the clock.

Challenges start tomorrow!

Good luck!
