Looking for a few good min -- Admin that is.
Lo and behold the 2025 US Team Chess League is getting cranked up and will begin play in about a month. Your Team Tennessee is 3rd in the standings for 2024 Division 4, and likely to finish there. Well done! And thank you to all who played.
This season the USTCL has requested each participating team have at least two admins registered and playing in the league. Until now we've had just one active Admin, so we are looking for one or two new admin to keep things moving smoothly. If you have experience as an admin here on chess.com, you know there's not much to it. And if you have no experience you can learn everything you need to know in about 5 minutes. Essentially we need someone who will work with the other admin, keep an eye on the league schedule (once posted), and issue the challenge at the appropriate time. It might take 5 minutes each month to set up the challenge, and the rest is automatically taken care of by the USTCL.
The season will last approximately nine months, or just long enough for each team to play every other team in the division once. Every month teams issue a challenge to their appointed opponent on or about the 4th day of the month, and the match begins ten days later on the 14th. The ten days gives each team time to fill their roster for that match. The games are 3-days/move correspondence type games (called daily games here on chess.com) and every month each participant plays one opponent from the opposing team twice, once with the white pieces and once with the black.
If this all sounds complicated, it's because I'm not explaining it very well. It's really simple, and again takes the admin maybe five minutes each month to accomplish. Some months it doesn't take that because the opposing team will issue the challenge first. When that happens all that is required of our admin is to look over the challenge closely to make sure it is set up correctly, and accept it if it is.
If you're interested in being an admin for Team Tennessee, comment on this announcement or send a direct message to @monGrelTiger. Likewise, if you have any questions feel free to send me a DM. And for more information about the USTCL visit: https://www.chess.com/club/us-team-chess-league
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from several of you.
