[Deleted] Minimum Votes Requirement
Update June 21st: I am removing this requirement as its introduction coincided with a significant decrease in voter participation. While this may just be a coincidence, it seems like a bad idea to keep the requirement. So from now on, I'm not going to extend a turn even if the team only has one vote.
I am implementing a new rule:
Before a team's move is officially declared, the team must either:
- Have made a minimum of three total votes
OR - Have made a minimum of two votes for the same move
If 24 hours has passed and a team hasn't met this requirement, I will wait to declare the official move for up to an additional 24 hours until the team has met this requirement.
Why this new requirement?
The purpose of this new Minimum Votes Requirement is to try to increase participation and ensure that a team's move is not just the result of one player's vote.
The purpose is not to try to increase the turn length from 24 to 48 hours. Ideally I'd still like the game to proceed at the pace of one move per day.
So efforts should still be made to get your votes in within 24 hours of your opponent's last move (as measured by the timestamp of my comment for the move in the official game thread). Intentionally delaying casting your vote until after 24 hours has passed in order to get more time to analyze is discouraged and is not in the spirit of what I'm trying to make happen with this new requirement.
That said, if enough players on a team are not available within the 24-hour time span to get three votes total or two votes for the same move, I'd prefer to give the team more time to vote to ensure that it's truly a team game.
