Moegling is Moving On Up!
Viking Chess Club member and Rook (treasurer) Charles Moegling graduated from Northeast High School’s Academy of Information Technology this week. He has been a pillar of the VCC for years, played in many in-house PCS tournaments, and frequently represented PCS in matches against other clubs. Charles has been accepted to the University of North Florida in Jacksonville and plans to pursue computer studies there. We caught up with him at Tropicana Field shortly before NEHI’s graduation ceremony for an interview.
Mr. G. E. Avlonitis: Congrats, Charles! Do you plan to remain active in PCS Chess and the 20/20 Championship League?
CM: You bet!
GEA: How high would you like to climb in the chess world?
CM: International Master (IM) would be great!
GEA: How did the Viking Chess Club impact you?
CM: The VCC was another connection with people at NEHI. I fit in there, and it made me feel more welcome at NEHI.
GEA: Do you have a message for the VCC underclassmen?
CM: Study your openings! I know that’s what I need to do!
