Monthly Schedule For The Club

Monthly Schedule For The Club

Here is what I am thinking for a monthly schedule:

1) First week of month: start a themed daily tournament. I will send reminders about registration about a week before the start as well as a day before the start. The tournaments will alternate opening moves for black and white. While our club is still small, I will make the tournament available to all of chess.com.

2) Middle of the month: start a team match. I will try to match us up with other clubs of a similar rating range to keep things fun and competitive.

3) End of the month: start a live chess variant tournament. This may be tough while we are still small as we'll need a high level of participation for a variety of opponents. I will work on opening up the live tournament to people outside of the club, but am not sure exactly how that works. I will try and alternate the type of variant (crazyhouse, 3 check, 960, king of the hill, bughouse if we get enough members, etc.) as well as the type of tournament (arena vs. swiss) but will probably keep the time parameters 3|0.

4) If time permits: review games from the month and highlight especially nice games.

As we grow, I'd also love to have different members share something every month that they're learning about such as an endgame pattern or a specific opening line in a blog post to help us all improve. Other than that, this is pretty much the vision I have for the club.

As always, any thoughts, ideas, or desire to help run the club, feel free to send me a message!

Thanks,
