Game Review is the reimagination of what was previously known as Game Report and Key Moments.

What you will recognize

After completing a game and selecting Game Review to analyze your match, there is a lot you'll be familiar with. In the summary section of Game Review, you'll find each player's username and avatar along with accuracy scores, classification tallies for your moves throughout the match, and a game arc showing how the evaluation changed move-by-move.

Just below this summary section is a whole new world.

What's new!?

Let's introduce you to Coach
If you've spent some time in the Lessons section you'll probably recognize Coach as a chess master who always has helpful tips. Here in Game Review, Coach will provide feedback on your moves with information about what you did well and areas you could look to improve.

Coach’s feedback will appear in your new Move List. This new, top-down accordion-style view brings you a little closer to the scoresheet you might keep while playing an over-the-board match. Scrolling through the list and clicking on a move, will reveal any feedback Coach may have for you. You may notice some moves with colorful glyphs to the left of them while scrolling through your Move List, these are your Key Moves!

Game Review Move List overview

Key Moves (previously Key Moments) and retries still work the way you're used to, but may look a little different. Any move with a classification glyph to the left of it, is a Key Move and can be clicked into to reveal a few additional options.

  • If your Key Move was classified as Brilliant, you can quickly share the game directly from the move.
  • If your move was classified as Good or Excellent you can select Best to see what the best option was.
  • And finally, for any classification that was an Inaccuracy, Mistake, Blunder, or Missed Win, you'll be able to select Retry to give the position another shot! All of your retries are added up in an adjusted accuracy score found at the bottom of your Move List.

Game Review Key Move Buttons

As before, if you feel like you need a little more practice, you can scroll down to the bottom of the Move List to see Personalized Training based on what happened in your game. Try your hand at relevant Puzzles or watch Lessons to help reinforce what Coach taught you.

Game Review Personalized Training

As you click into each move to explore Coach's feedback you might also notice an option to Show Line. Selecting this button will do as you may expect and show the top engine line starting from the position you have selected, helping reveal the positional ideas and tactics in your game.

Game Review Show Line Button

If the Game Review you're checking out played through an opening we recognize, you'll also see that we've marked that opening in your Move List! Expanding the move in your list that has the Book classification glyph to its left will reveal some information about the opening: how many times you've played it, how well you've scored, and how the opening could have continued based on the master’s opening database.
