New Meetup Location for Over-the-Board Chess in Red Deer
Hello everyone!
Starting Saturday, February 14 we will launch a new meetup for over-the-board chess in Red Deer, thanks to the hard work of our good friend, Litto @Gwaii_Supremo . Litto has secured an arrangement to use the Senior Citizens' Downtown House every second and fourth Saturday of the month. This will be a quieter spot than the Parkland Mall, in close proximity to downtown, and with plenty of free parking.
The idea is to start with casual chess (i.e. no formal pairings, bring your own board if you have one). Some basic tutorials for beginners will be available. If successful, we will hopefully be able to offer unrated and possibly rated tournaments in the near future in partnership with the Lacombe Chess Club.
The details:
WHERE: Senior Citizens Downtown House - 5414 43 St Red Deer
WHEN: 3:00-7:00 p.m.; First meetup will be February 14, 2026 and every second and fourth Saturday of the month thereafter
FORMAT: Casual games to start with; play with or without a clock at your pleasure; do bring your own set and clock if you have one (no problem if not)
Contact Litto @Gwaii_Supremo if you have any questions.
As usual, check the club page here for upcoming tournament announcements.
