Upcoming Tournament: 'Christmas Checkmate Cup' In Lacombe

Hello chess friends!

Following the success of last weekend's tournament in Lacombe, the Sports Organizers Group and Lacombe Chess Club will be hosting another unrated, rapid tournament next Friday. 

WHEN: Friday, 12 December @3:00 p.m.

WHERE: Tasty Bites restaurant 5240 45 St., Lacombe (in the same parking lot as Lacombe Centre/Starbucks)

FORMAT: Unrated 6 Round Swiss; 10 min game with no increment

FEE/PRIZES: $30 entry fee in support of a larger prize fund (see below)

You can email Mr. Cesar Calopez for all inquiries. Entry fee may be paid by e-transfer to Morgan, Ron, or Jhezika at the phone numbers above. It may be possible to pay cash on site, but please confirm with Cesar.

I personally can't make it to this event, but I encourage everyone to play. Based on my experience last time, you can expect semi-formal playing conditions with a certain amount of ambient noise and less-than-regulation-size chess sets. It's unrated though, and the prizes are real.

It's a good idea to bring your own set and clock, if you have these, in order to ensure there will be enough on hand.
