Pawns Dominate Rematch with Bishops of Honor
After a tight victory in the inaugural match two weeks earlier, the Sacramento Pawns built an almost insurmountable lead in the first game to pull away from the Sacramento Bishops of Honor. The 6-1 halftime margin held up for a 9-5 final tally.
The young Pawns were represented by five juniors - including a pair of 9 year olds - and just two adults. They also maintained a rating advantage on every board except the last one. Indeed, the higher rated player won each game in the first half. However, the top three Bishops upheld their honor by striking back in the second half.
