Dear Chess Friends!

First of all, let me wish you a Happy New Year. I hope 2026 brings you health, energy, and many good games — both on and off the board.
To start the year with inspiration, I’d like to invite you to our next workshop on Sunday, January 4, dedicated to one of the most influential players in chess history: Paul Morphy.

Morphy’s style was revolutionary for his time, and in many ways it still feels modern today. His games show a deep understanding of open positions, where fast development and active pieces matter more than material. Instead of memorizing long opening lines, Morphy focused on principles — bringing pieces into play quickly, opening lines at the right moment, and keeping constant pressure on the opponent.

🗓 Date: 01/04
⏰ Time: 11 a.m. EST, 4 p.m. UK time, 5 p.m. CET

In this session, we’ll see how Morphy:

  • Used sacrifices not for show, but to gain time and space
  • Handled the open center to activate his major pieces
  • Chose his moment to simplify or attack, not chasing fireworks but strategic clarity
  • And how even in “quiet” positions, he remained in full control

Why should you attend?
The goal of this session is not historical admiration, but practical improvement. Morphy’s approach offers a clear blueprint for anyone who wants to play open games with confidence, initiative, and purpose.

Register now and receive the Zoom-link before the event! Your participation is absolutely free, you just need to register here: https://chesslance.com/masterclass/

See you at the workshop,
FM Viktor Neustroev
