1. Invitation

The Chess Association of Punjab has the honor to invite all Affiliated Districts Chess Associations and other chess players from all over Pakistan to participate in the Punjab Open Chess Championship, 2018 in Multan organized by the Chess Association of Punjab in collaboration with District Chess Association of Multan and District Sports Committee, Multan.  The venue of the tournament shall be Multan Sports ground/Gymnasium, Near state bank, Kalma chowk, Multan.

2. Participation

All affiliated Districts Chess Associations shall participate according to their quota mentioned below.

3. Registration and Travel Condition

3.1 Entries shall only be accepted if submitted by the District Chess Associations on the letter head or on the attached entry form duly signed and stamped. Last date of submission of entry is March 18, 2018 after which no entry on quota basis shall be entertained. However, players participating on open entry can submit their entry fee till March 22, 2018 09:00 hours by depositing the entry fee mentioned note-4.

3.2 Travel expenses of the players participating on quota basis shall be paid as per Normal /actual Bus/Train fare. Players are requested to submit their Bus/Train tickets for the reimbursement of the fare.

3.3 All Districts are requested to deposit their affiliation fee for the financial year 2017-2018 before the start of the tournament.   

3.4 Players will not be paired until all payments are made.

3.4 As we have limited chess clocks and chess sets therefore all districts chess associations and players are requested to bring as much chess clocks and chess sets as they can. It will be highly appreciated if you share this resource information upon submission of entry of the players.

4. Entry Fee

4.1 Rs. 1,000/- shall be charged from the players playing on open entry before the start of the tournament. However players falling under districts quota shall not be charged any entry fee.

5. Accommodation

5.1 Accommodation and full board will be provided to the nominated players falling under quota of each districts mentioned in note– 2.  Limited players coming from other provinces shall also be provided free accommodation, however they shall be responsible for their food and travel expenses.

5.2 Players entered on open entry basis shall be responsible for their boarding & lodging arrangements. However we may facilitate in providing the Hotel accommodation and food at corporate rate. The interested players are requested to contact the undersigned as soon as possible.

7. Format/System of Play:
   • The event will be held on 9 rounds swiss league system.
   • The time control shall 1 hour +30 sec increase on each move to finish the game.
   • Tie- break system shall be as under:

1. i) Buchholz score ii) Median Buchholz Score iii) Progressive Score

• The panel of Arbiters shall be displayed in the tournament hall before the start of tournament.
• Writing of moves shall be compulsory during the play.

8. Prizes

8.1 Total prize money  will be given in the following breakup.

1^st: Rs. 20,000, 2^nd – Rs.15,000, 3^rd – Rs. 10,000, 4^th- Rs. 5,000, 5^th- Rs. 4,000, 6^th-Rs. 3,000, 7^th-Rs.  2,000 8^th- Rs. 2,000, 9^th- Rs. 2,000 & 10^th- 2,000.

8.2 Top three position holders will also receive the trophies along with cash prizes.

8.3 Top 10 position holders shall receive the certificates along with the cash prizes.
