Questions that I'm hearing...
Q1: Can I play in any of or all of the regionals?
A1: Yes! Play in as many as you can. Get some practice in before State.
Q2: What are the times for rounds 2, 3 and 4?
A2: Please pay attention! Beyond round 1, there’s no set schedule. Chess.com starts the next round as soon as the last board is over. Players must watch the boards to decide if they have time for a personal break. Do not risk missing a round!
Q3: I can’t decide what I want to do on Saturday yet. Can I register at the last minute?
A3: You can try, but it may not be possible. We expect a lot of last minute activity. Please excuse us if we can’t get to everyone. The best advice is to get everything done well ahead of time!
Q4: Do I have to be on camera for the tournaments?
A4: For the regionals - no. For the State Championship - yes. Titled events and rated events always require at least one camera.
Q5: How do I tell the real name of my opponent?
A5: On your club's homepage in Chess.com (ICA Scholastic K-5, 6-8, 9-12), scroll down to see the news articles. You'll see an article titled "List of Players With Qualifications." Look for the roster in there.
Q6: How do I find the tournament?
A6: If you are joining on time, just go to your club's homepage in Chess.com (ICA Scholastic K-5, 6-8, 9-12). It's listed at the top. If you are joining late, go to your club's home page, scroll down to see the news articles. You'll see an article titled "East Region Scholastic Qualifier." Look for the link in there.
Q7: I’m still confused. What do I do?
A7: Text or call Jef at (208)488-0676 or send him a message thru Chess.com at TofuNightmare
