Red Deer Daily Chess Championship 2024

Hello Red Deer area chess players!

It's time for our second annual club daily chess championship. Thanks @Bullfloater for putting it together. Don't miss the chance to meet and compete against other local chess players! Please note, this is a Daily (correspondence) format event. You will have up to two full days to make your move. Games can sometimes take a month or more to complete.

The main difference from last year's event is that we will have smaller groups of 3 players, with only 1 player advancing from each group per round. This will likely mean the tournament finishes a bit sooner. In the event that we don't have an even multiple of 3, some groups may only have 2 players. (Chess.com automatically makes the pairings and tries to have a similar average rating across all the groups.)

Please try to follow a few simple rules and guidelines:

1) Play fair. Please don't use an engine or outside help in your games (But use of the analysis board and opening books is allowed and encouraged in Daily.)

2) Play nice. Don't use insulting language or intimidation tactics. We try to have a friendly atmosphere at our real life meetups and this should be no different.

3) Avoid losing on time.

4) Don't abuse the vacation time feature (i.e. go on vacation for weeks hoping your opponent will forget about the game).
