Saturday Afternoon Chess on September 12
Join the Sacramento Pawns club for our weekly COVID-safe chess every Saturday afternoon. The Kids & Amateurs starts at 1:30 PM for those under 1400 in Chess.com rapid rating. Everyone may participate in our main event: the Pawn Storm beginning at 3:00 PM. Both tournaments require a minimum of 4 players for three rounds, 8 for four rounds and 10 for the full five rounds in the Pawn Storm. Call your friends and invite them to play chess!
Be sure to also join the official Sacramento Chess Club online group to enter their new weekly tournaments on Wednesday evenings starting at 6:30 PM. They play four rounds at the time control of G/17 + inc/3. The tournament should finish in about 2.5 hours. While the initial events will not be USCF online rated, the goal is to host rated games later this fall. John McCumiskey is the club director.
The Auburn Chess Club organizes regular G/15 to G/60 tournaments on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, plus Sunday matinees. Check them out if you enjoy a leisurely time control. J.R. Nicholson has reinvigorated the online club.
