Dear Silverdale Chess Club Friends and Families,
The 2025 FIDE Women’s World Championship Match concluded today. Friday, April 18, with a vibrant closing ceremony held at the Jinke Grand Hotel in Chongqing’s Fuling District.
Once again, the winner was GM Ju Wenjun (see photo above). The 34-year-old Chinese grandmaster became only the fourth woman in history to win the title five times
All of Ju's previous matches had gone to the final game, but this time, despite falling behind in game two, a four-game winning streak blew away her opponent.
The final score was 6.5 - 2.5 .

Bon Voyage to the Seafaring Keech Family
We want to extend our best wishes and a fond farewell to the Keech family (including John, Isaiah and Sadie) who will soon be making their way to South Africa to take ownership of their new sailing vessel, a boat that they will navigate from the tip of the African continent to the islands of the Caribbean before ultimately crossing the Atlantic to settle in the Chesapeake Bay area. It was a pleasure to get to know the family of redheaded renown. Grandad Dan Keech, a retired medical doctor, will still be situated in these Silverdale climes. We hope to see Dan at future Chess Club meetups.

The Silverdale Chess Club meets on Saturdays from 2:00/2:30-4:30 at Moment Brewing, 10876 Myhre Pl NW Suite 112, Silverdale, WA 98383
