FAQ

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Registration

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you want to test your blogging skills in this competition, there is no need to DM anyone or make any forums for that. You just need to register at the following link:

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

BlogChamps 9 Registration

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Add a comment there with the probability score (1-10/10) that you will be able to publish your blog in time. For example:

I am registering. 10/10

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Registration will close on the last day of the Qualifiers Stage, so use that time wisely and start working on your blog already! We have a lot of helpful resources to get better at blogging, a forum where you can read blogs from other people, and a community ready to help you with the image for your blog!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Good luck and please don't procrastinate wink

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But if you don't want to wait for so long, you can also join The Blogger Awards v2.0 club and register for a monthly blogging competition there.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Format

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Our competition consists of 2 stages: The Qualifiers Stage and The Knockout Stage.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Qualifiers Stage

All registered participants must submit a blog for the Week 1 Qualifier Stage. The blog must be published after July 24, 2025, and before July 31, 2025. The judges will give your blog a score from 0 to 10 and we will then calculate the average. The top 8 blogs from Week 1 will go to the next stage.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But what about those who didn't qualify? Well, they have a second chance of getting onto the next stage in Week 2. The rules will be the same, but you will have to write a new blog in 12 days. The top 8 blogs from Week 2 will also go to the next stage.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Knockout Stage

8 bloggers from Week 1, and 8 bloggers from Week 2 move on to the Knockout Stage. Just like the football World Cup, 2 people will compete in one group and only the person with a better blog will move on!

Knockout Stages

  •  Sweet 16 - 8 bloggers will move on
  •  Elite 8 - 4 bloggers will move on
  •  Final 4 - 2 bloggers will move on and the other two will both get 3rd place
  •  Blog Bowl - The winner gets the 1st place and the other blogger gets a 2nd place

Are you ready to become a new winner of BlogChamps? Will see!

Judges

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The competition will be judged by 6 judges in the Qualifiers Stage (3 judges for Week 1, 3 judges for Week 2) and 5 judges in the Knockout Stage. Let's greet them!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A National Master, Top Blogger, an amazing Chess Coach, and 1 time Blog of the Month Winner @NMChessToImpress! He will be judging the Qualifiers Stage in Week 1.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

2023-24 South Florida Grand Prix Winner, Top Blogger, and 1 time Blog of the Month Winner @nbrasington! He will be judging the Qualifiers Stage in Week 1 and the Knockout Stages.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Top Blogger (his badge got removed for unfair reasons), and the author of 20+ blogs @ArtyPentti! He will be judging the Qualifiers Stage in Week 1 and the Knockout Stages.

UPDATE. Unfortunately, @ArtyPentti had to step down from judging for personal reasons, and BlogChamps Season 8 bronze medalist @ChocoCaramelPawn will replace him.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

BlogChamps Season 7 Champion, and BlogChamps Season 6 Bronze Medalist @JustGettingThisOffMyChess! He will be judging the Qualifiers Stage in Week 2 and the Knockout Stages.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

BlogChamps Season 6 Champion, author of 100+ blogs, and chess books writer @KevinSmithIdiot! He will be judging the Qualifiers Stage in Week 2 and the Knockout Stages.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

And now a person you might know shock BlogChamps Season 6 Silver Medalist, Top Blogger, 2 times Blog of the Month Winner, and Season 7-9 coordinator @VOB96! She will be judging the Qualifiers Stage in Week 2 and the Knockout Stages.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In the Qualifiers Stage, judges will rate your blog from 1 to 10, and in the Knockout Stage, they will vote which blog out of 2 is better. You can also contact them for more feedback about your blogs after the end of each round!

Prizes

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Now we go to the part that you have been waiting for: What gets the winner? Is it a chocolate bar? Is it a free chess.com subscription? Let's find out!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Traditional prize

The winner gets a recommendation for Top Blogger status to the Chess.com staff. If your blogs are good enough to win the competition, they are very likely good enough to get the badge as well. But please note that a recommendation is not a promise.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Prizes from @VOB96

  • U$ 25 Amazon gift card
  • One-month Diamond Membership
  • Mention in her blog!

FAQ

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

1) I am the winner of Season 8. Do I automatically get a Top Blogger badge?

No, please note that Top Blogger status can only be awarded by Chess.com staff. We will certainly recommend you and, as I said, your blogs are probably very good if you manage to win, but we cannot promise that.

2) I think my blogs are very good, but I didn't win. Should I forget about my hopes of becoming a Top Blogger?

Absolutely not! We have many Top Bloggers who were raised by BlogChamps and didn't win their seasons, like @SheldonOfOsaka, @nbrasington, @sleepyporcyy, @YEAT, @AstroTheoretical_Physics, @NDpatzer, and the list goes on. Basically, taking part and working hard to win is half the battle, as it is all about the quality you need to achieve during the process.

3) I also like to participate in the monthly contests of "The Blogger Awards v2.0" club. Can I submit the same blog to both competitions?

Yes, you can! Using the same blog is not only allowed but encouraged, so you can focus on writing only one great blog instead of splitting your time between two articles. Just make sure it is published after July 24th so that it is within the rules for both contests!

4) I am a new blogger and I want to get better. Are there any materials that can help me?

Yes, of course! BlogChamps has an entire forum full of tips, tricks, and resources to make you a better blogger!

5) Can I use AI in my blog?

No, blogging is made for people, not for robots. You cannot generate any parts of your blog using artificial intelligence. The only exceptions are thumbnails and images in your blog, but if you are having trouble making them, we can help you in this forum! If we find out that you used AI in a competition, you will be disqualified.

6) Can I request a review of my blog for the competition before the results?

You can ask your friend, your mum, sister or your grandma. But you can't submit your blog for a review in any BlogChamps forums or ask for reviews and opinions from judges if you already submitted it for a competition.

7) Can I use sources or websites to help me?

Yes, as long as you don't plagiarize or rephrase what they said without adding anything.

8) Can I forfeit in the middle of the competition?

Leaving the competition without any reason will disrespect judges who spent precious time reading and judging your blog and all participants who didn't pass onto the next stage but wanted to be in your place.

9) I don't agree with the judging results. Can I appeal?

No.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

P.S. Well, that's all! If you have any more questions about the competition, feel free to contact @VOB96 or @ChocoCaramelPawn. Good luck and best wishes to everyone, and may season 9 begin!
