Semiahmoo Open Chess Tournament (Aug. 5-7, 2017)

Wondering when the next big local chess tournament will be? Consider participating in this year's inaugural Semiahmoo Open, to be held in beautiful White Rock, BC this August long weekend! In addition to the familiar rated six-round Swiss classical tournament, the event will feature a chess lecture and the opportunity to play in a friendly, unrated blitz side-tournament. Veteran TD Stephen Wright will preside. The early bird registration fee is a very affordable $65 so book your spot soon. Guaranteed cash prizes to be awarded in all rating sections. The more players the higher the prize fund so pass on the news to your friends and rivals!

When: August 5-7, 2017 (first round 12pm August 5)

Where: Pacific Inn Resort (Cote d'Azur room) 1160 King George Boulevard, Surrey BC

Format: 6 round Swiss tournament (two games per day); 90 minutes + 30s increment; four rating sections: U1200 U1600 U2000 and Premier (can pay extra $20 to "play up" a section)

Entry Fee: pay online before June 15 $65; before July 15 $75;  before July 31 $90; late registration on-site $100

Prizes: awarded to 1st and 2nd place in all rating sections; amounts to be determined by final number of entries
