Silverdale Chess Club News and Moves, Exciting 2025 Update!!
Dear Silverdale Chess Club Family and Friends,
We have exciting news for the New Year, just around the corner.
Our last day at the Silverdale Library Salish Room will be December 28th. The following Saturday, January 4, 2025 (the fourth of January), at 2:30, we will be welcoming you to a new home!
The new location features a larger space, no time constraints (play as long as you like), good food (melts, brats, salads, wraps and soft pretzels), and drink (including beer, but no bar), a coffee and donut shop right next door (open til 3pm on Saturdays), and a large, Internet-ready video screen display (even larger than the Salish Room's.) The site is family-friendly and pet-friendly (your dogs are welcome, even if they don't play chess). You can also bring your our own food or snacks if you wish.
The name of the new venue is Moment Brewery and it is a great moment for Silverdale chess fans.
The address is 10876 NW Myhre Pl, Ste 112, Silverdale, WA 98383. It is situated in the mini business plaza located directly across the parking lot from the Federal Express office, and adjacent to the Japanese food market and Hakata restaurant. It is a stone's throw from REI and Home Depot.
We have brand new chess sets on order (triple-weighted) with the number of clocks TBD.
For the next two weeks, the agenda is light at the Library space.
"Must-Know End Games"
Since this is an ending, of sort, at one location, we will be looking at some classic, must-know END GAME positions. Not complicated puzzles but real world positions with very clever solutions that are “must know” scenarios for every player.
So plan on making your strategic move to Moment Brewing on January 4th. Like the Great Beer Halls of Europe, this place is built for Chess and chessplayers!
