Sosnick Chess at UC Davis, May 31 to June 2

Join to play over-the-board chess at the 2024 Stephen Sosnick Memorial Chess Festival at UC Davis on May 31st, June 1st and 2nd. 

The spacious playing venue and generous prize fund are sponsored by Sosnick Chess, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting and advancing the game of chess in memory of UCD Professor Stephen Sosnick. Donations are accepted on the website.

This year's events are again spread over 3 days. You may attend 1, 2 or all 3 days. Note that the Friday evening program kicks off at 6:00 this year.

* Friday evening free lecture (6:00) and GM simul (mandatory check-in by 6:45)
* Saturday tournament: 5 rounds G/30 + 10 sec increment (USCF regular rated)
* Sunday tournament: 7 rounds G/15 + 10 sec increment (USCF quick rated)
* Extras: great venue, GM game analysis, puzzles, Q & A, food truck for lunch

Many already registered and we expect to break last year's numbers. Currently, the top players entered in the Open section on both Saturday and Sunday are IM John Donaldson and two-time defending champion FM Derek Wu.
