The 26th Annual Sacramento Chess Championship will be held July 5-7, 2024 at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, 2224 Auburn Boulevard, Sacramento, CA.  The event will be held in four sections:  Master/Expert (above 1999, FIDE rated) , Reserve (1500-1999), Challengers (U1500) Senior (age 50+ as of 7/5/2024) with a 2 or 3-day schedule.   IM John Donaldson is scheduled to play in the event.

Registration will 7/5 – 8:30-9:45 am (3-day schedule) and 7/6 – 8:00 - 8:45 am (2-day schedule).   3-day section rounds times:  7/5 – 10 & 3, 7/6 – 10:30 & 4, 7/7 – 10 & 3.  2-day section round times:  : 7/6 – 9, 11:15, 1:30, & 4, 7/7 – 10 & 3.  (2- and 3-day merge in round 4).  Time Controls: 3-day: G/90 +30 inc, 2-day: Rounds 1-3, G/61,d5; Rounds 4-6, G/90 +30 inc.   Online entries accepted at http://tinyurl.com/3n9kvubh  Make payment through Venmo to @jmc-chess or PayPal to sactochess@sbcglobal.net.  Please include the name of the player with the payment.

ENTRY FEES: $124, postmarked by 6/28/2024; $144 postmarked after 6/28/2024 and on site.  IMs/GMs free.  USCF membership required.  CalChess members receive a $5 discount on their entry fee (excluding reentries).  Entrants may play up one section (max 200 points) for $30.  Reentry after round 2 of the 3-day schedule, $65.  Byes: ½ point byes available in any round and must be requested before completion of the previous round.   ½ point byes for rounds 5 and 6 must be requested prior to the start of round 1 and may not be changed.  Maximum two ½ point byes.

PRIZES:    Master/Expert:    1st - $1,000 & trophy, 2nd - $700, 3rd - $500;   *U2200:  1st - $400, 2nd -    $300, 3rd - $200
    Reserve:    1st - $850 & trophy, 2nd - $650, 3rd - $450;   *U1750:  1st - $375, 2nd - $275
    Challengers:    1st - $850 & trophy, 2nd - $650, 3rd - $450;   *U1250: 1st - $375, 2nd - $275;   U1000* - $200
    Senior:    1st - $850 & trophy, 2nd - $650, *1800-1999 - 1st - $400; *U1600-1799 - 1st - $400; U1600 - $400   Trophy to top 60+, 65+, & 70+
NOTE: Unrated players ineligible for asterisked (*) prizes.
