Summer Trophy Grab Tournaments (scholastic) - 2022
Cincinnati Scholastic Chess presents the inaugural SUMMER TROPHY GRAB
The Summer Trophy Grab comprises three scholastic tournaments (for rising K-12th graders) held
outdoors at the Blue Ash Nature Park. Players may play in any one or two tournaments or in all
three. Current USCF membership is required for all sections. All sections are USCF rated. Official
USCF Regular ratings as of the 1st of the month of the tournament will be used.
Dates, Sections and Venue
Saturday, June 11, 2022 U1000, U700, U400 Blue Ash shelter
Saturday, July 9, 2022 U1100, U800, U500 Blue Ash or Sycamore shelter (TBD)
Sunday, August 7, 2022 U1200, U900, U600 Blue Ash or Sycamore shelter (TBD)
Section eligibility and pairings will be based on official USCF ratings published as of the first day of the month in which the tournament is played, except that unofficial ratings, if available, will be used for players who are officially unrated.
Tournament Structure and Schedule (all dates)
Swiss tournament, five rounds, time control G/30;d5
Round times: 11:30 am, 1:00 pm, then ASAP; awards at approximately 5:15 pm
Awards
Trophies to top 5 finishers in each section of each tournament. Each tournament is a stand-alone event that awards trophies based solely on the results for that tournament. Standard USCF tiebreaks will be used to determine trophy winners among tied players.
Entry
Enter online at www.chesscincinnati.com/summer-otb/. The entry fee for each tournament is $31.
Entry deadline is noon on the day before each tournament:
• Friday, June 10 for the June 11 tournament
• Friday, July 8 for the July 9 tournament
• Saturday August 6 for the August 7 tournament
Other details
Notation is required in the upper two sections and optional in the lowest section.
Players may take up to two optional half-point byes but must commit to byes by 1:00 pm on the day of the tournament. Byes may be requested on the entry form when entering, by email to
info@chesscincinnati.com after entering, or onsite before 1:00 pm.
Players may play up. Players may change sections until but not after the tournament’s entry deadline.
Unrated players who have a USCF membership are welcome to enter any section in any tournament, but are encouraged to enter the lowest section. Players who enter a tournament as an unrated player will have a rating after that tournament.
Entry fee refunds will be given if notice of withdrawal is received before the tournament’s entry
deadline. Refunds are subject to a processing fee of $1.50.
