The French Defense is one of the fundamental openings and a common defensive strategy against white's first move 1.e4.

The French Defense is characterized by the following moves: 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 and after 3.Nd2, we enter the Tarrasch Variation of the French Defense. The main focus of this video is on the Closed Variation, where basic ideas, strategies and plans for both sides in the different lines after the move 3...Nf6 will be discussed.
