The Improver's Sunday Rapid Tournaments In 2026
Dear Chess Improvers,
Back by popular demand: Sunday Rapid Tournaments!
Starting this Sunday, we'll be offering live rapid tournaments every weekend. If you are new to the club, here is an overview of the format and key details.
Format:
- Five-round Swiss
- Time control: 10+2 (10 minutes with a two-second increment from move 1.)
- Two start times:
- Early: 3:00 a.m. ET / 9:00 CET / 1:30 p.m. IST.
- Late: 12:00 p.m. ET / 18:00 CET / 10:30 p.m. IST.
- Estimated runtime: approximately two hours.
Eligibility
All Improvers are welcome to enter!
Please note: To enter the tournament, you must have played at least 50 rapid games on Chess.com. This requirement helps prevent fair play violations. As always, our team will conduct rigorous fair play checks during and after the event.

Prizes
Similar to last year, we have three 1-month Diamond memberships to give away for each tournament. We had extensive discussions about the best way to award players, and we’ve decided to try something new by awarding three random players. This approach better promotes the spirit of participation and improvement, reinforcing that playing, learning, and growing matter more than a player’s final placement in the standings.
How To Enter
The event will appear on the Improvers Club homepage and on the Club Events page.
You will also receive an automated reminder one hour before the start time. Check your club settings to ensure you have opted in.
Joining late? No problem! Click the Ongoing Events tab on the homepage to enter the tournament in progress.
