The Official Pawnicide Anthem Is Here!
Over the years, the word Pawnicide has inspired many variations of the word, mottos, clubs, and tournaments; but now it is time for there to be an anthem for Pawnicide. Inspired by a game, the poem describes how White was faced with a threat, a black pawn on f3, who was threatening to promote to a queen. White saw the threat and sent pieces into the game. In the end, White’s position became favorable because their queen committed pawnicide. This piece describes why pawnicide is such an important necessity, and why without it, the outcome of games can be quite different. And now you can read the anthem, or even sing it, for yourself:
(If singing, sing to the tune of the star spangled banner)
The Pawnicide Anthem
O look, can you see, the pawn on f3,
It is passed and may advance, Glory be! It will be a queen!
This threat may proceed, unless there is done a deed,
But will White abide or commit pawnicide?
And the rooks were deployed, the captures did commence,
Yet the pawn stood strong, amidst the throng,
But the queen was dispatched and the pawn did die,
Thus White did preside, all because of pawnicide!
