Dear Silverdale Chess Club Friends & Family,
Chess fun and chess culture will be on tap at Moment Brewing this week with the first, honorary Silverdale Chess Club Trivia Contest. Our “Two-Move Checkmate” Contest has proven a bit too slow to accommodate ten positions in one session (turning "Puzzle Rush" into "Puzzle Rush Hour”). Previous chess puzzle solutions may be used for Trivia tiebreakers.
Give your Chess memory banks a jump start. Make Wikipedia your friend. Dust off those classic copies of Chess Life & Review.
The Chess Trivia questions will range from fairly easy (“What is another name for the Rook? What is the chess opening named for a Spanish Bishop?“ “What are 5 chess openings named for countries or nationalities") to more complex: (What is the last name of World Champ Gukesh? GM Nodirbek?), and may cover chess terms, chess rules, former players, world chess champs, and other unusual chess factoids.
Club members can form teams, (with a special prize for best team name), or participate individually. Taxes for prizes are the sole responsibility of the the winners. No purchase necessary.
See you Saturday!
The Silverdale Chess Club meets on Saturdays from 2:30-Close at Moment Brewing,
10876 Myhre Pl NW Suite 112, Silverdale, WA 98383
