THURSDAY DISCUSSION WITH YDTD

For my interview with Ydtd we made plans to meet at Harold’s New York Deli,
 the famous deli in Edison New Jersey.  After we were sitting a  portly well dressed server took our order and we began our interview.

LC: Ydtd thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule for this interview. Plus I know you couldn’t pass up an opportunity to eat at Harold’s. Not only are the sandwiches good but they are ginormous!! But I digress, Ydtd you now head into the Independence Day Tournament with the wind behind your back due to you winning the 2024 LCCT. Do you feel confident about your chances in the IDT?

Ydtd: YDTD never ever participates in a tournament or anything not expecting to WIN.

LC: I hear that! Now Ydtd, you have the potential of facing three of  your toughest rivals in @Ckmatein427
, @J_Santiago
 and @Juanitamann
. Do you have a strategy in mind about how to play each one of them?

Ydtd: YDTD wouldn't call it a strategy, but YDTD has to make the BEST Moves not Good Moves. YDTD has to be in the 90+ percentile to be successful.  It will be tough but YDTD can attain that. YDTD likes playing the TOP Players which helps your game improve.

LC: Oh absolutely.  I agree with you wholeheartedly.  But Ydtd you are 1-6-1 against Ckmatein427. The only person in the club who has a winning career record against you in daily time control.  Why is that? What makes him so tough to beat?

Ydtd: Chmate427 [sic] has more experience than YDTD and it shows when we play.  He seems to be a move or 2 ahead of YDTD in our games. He is very tough and steady & he is the real deal.   If you make a mistake against Ckmate427 it is very hard to recover a testament to his skill level. YDTD looks forward to the challenge.  I have not seen @J_Santiago play in the 24 hour format yet but YDTD thinks he will hold his own. He is very good on the clock.  @Juanitamann & YDTD talk smack to each other but she is a worthy opponent she can play & she will hurt you if you sleep on her. YDTD is looking forward to the battle.  

LC: 😂😂 Yes you and Juanitamann have had some good verbal battles as well as chess battles, with you getting the better of her on the board of 64 squares.  But moving right along…..

Before I could get my next question in, our food came and it looked absolutely delicious!  
I had the Xtra large Rueben with pastrami and mouth watering corn beef.
  It was piled high with sauerkraut, Russian dressing and stringy Swiss cheese melted in the humongous rye bread. There was a cup of mustard on the side also just in case.  The sandwich was so tall I would need to unhinge my jaws like a python just to eat it!!  Needless to say my diet was going out the window today!!!  Ydtd ordered a mountain high corn beef and pastrami combo sandwich
!  When I say these sandwiches are huuuuge I mean it!

Halfway through our meal I reminded Ydtd that we have to finish our interview otherwise I’ll get itis and we would have to finish the interview another time.  I wasn’t quite sure when that would be with Ydtd’s hectic schedule. So I commenced with the questioning.

is also in this tournament and he is known as the great white shark yet he has never beaten you. Why do you think he has such trouble playing against you?

While still taking a bite out of the succulent sandwich Ydtd answered…

Ydtd: Bustamove82 aka Terrancethelast aka I get my Ass Busted All The Time is proof that he doesn't know what a great white shark is, look at his results they speak for themselves. YDTD is not wasting his time on him, enough said.

LC: lol, well @Slamm20
aka the black panther has called you "the PeeWee Herman"
of the club and I'm sure he will be looking to checkmate you in this upcoming tournament. Have you scouted any of his games recently?

Ydtd: YDTD has not scouted any of Slamm20 games it's not necessary.

LC : Alrighty then, how about Tillboy
?  Why do you call Tillboy "The Portland Trailblazers of Let's Castle?"😂😂😂

Ydtd: Tillboy will get you to the playoffs and that's it that's why YDTD refers to him as "The Portland Trailblazers of Let's Castle". You got to WIN the CHIP but Tillboy can play. What does Patrick Ewing
/ Reggie Miller/ Karl Malone & Charles Barkley have in common ??? Chipless !!!

LC: 😂😂😂😂, Ydtd  you've been the epitome of consistency either finishing first or second in virtually all of your daily LC tournaments. What do you attribute this to? Also what advice do you have for the neophytes and first time chess players who aspire to get to your level of winning?

Ydtd: The only advice YDTD can give is you got to put the Work In most players are microwave players meaning they want instant gratification. YDTD prefers the Oven. YDTD wants the food completely hot sometimes you have to add more time to the microwave to get your food hot. The bottom line is what you put in is what you get out. Good-luck to the newcomers and remember CHESS is a Very Tough Game !!!

After we wrapped up the interview we then wrapped up our leftovers  the sandwiches were too big to finish right there at the restaurant.  I had  to leave because I had to interview my next club member.  But rest assured Ydtd is ready to add another title to his impressive resume!
