Tournament Rules And Date
Hello!
Now most of you must have been wondering when our first tournament would start. I am here today to answer that question.
But before that, I need to make some things clear. I want to give a special shout out to Jack (DarkLord834) and David (maskdd), who without them, this would not be possible. Thank you, Jack, for giving us the idea to start tournaments, and thank you, David, for making me an admin, to do this.
Also, as everything has rules, and this is no different and they need to be established. These rules are set in place to make sure everything is fun and fair. These rules are in no particular order.
1. Please try not to start any other tournaments while a tournament is running. It would be best for everyone to be on the same one, and it would just make things more difficult and unnecessary.
2. Please stick to the game mode that we are playing. A tournament with a specific game mode (standard, 960, etc.) is to test that mode. Don't try some sneaky outside rules, like saying in the chat, let's play "No Check" and if one of us checks another, we must resign. You are making it hard for yourself, and ratings could go down easier.
3. Please stick to the extra rules (if any). Some tournaments might be "open notebook" which is where you can read YOUR notes. I know it is like the previous rule, but just wanted to say this.
4. Please don't use any outside sources. Reading games or tips about the opening you're playing while playing a tournament game, is not on. It is cheating whether it is in a book (even sometimes your notebook) or on the internet, and it is just not cool. Also, I know that sometimes siblings, parents, other family members, and people you have over will blurt out ideas to play. This is not good, but please tell the person POLITELY to not give you ideas while in the tournament.
5. Don't chat when you have 3:00 or less left on your clock. I know chatting is fun, and I do it a lot. But I don't like it when people lose to unnecessary reasons. You have some time to chat, but losing because of chatting is not fun at all. Also please don't force others to respond to your chat, because they might not want to.
6. Please don't trash talk so much that your nickname becomes "the garbage man." You might like to say the occasional rubbish, but please think twice before chatting, and only trash talk with a person that you have a relationship with that allows that. I know some of you might be snickering at the word "relationship", but I used it in the correct context; don't be immature. However, if someone swears or says something very hurtful, just tell them to stop. If they continue after you tell them to stop, maybe warn them one more time and say "I will report you if you do that again".
7. Finish every game you start. It's simple, it's good, it's kind. Of course, if it is an emergency, or if you have no choice, then resign.
I believe I have stated all the rules. If you think I have missed some, or you found some loopholes, please let me know.
NOW, TO THE NOTICE THAT YOU HAVE WAITED FOR, AND READ ALL THIS NONSENSE FOR! THE TOURNAMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first tournament will be a standard, 10 minute game. It will be an "open notebook" tournament, in which you can read notes in your notebook, but keep rule 4 in mind.
This tournament will commence on Friday, the 6th of March 2020. I know some of you were looking forward to the weekend, but I have had this date planned for quite a while now, and you can just organise some fun games then.
Thank you for reading all of this. It means a lot to me.

P.S. Yes, that adorable creature is my cat and he is the most cuddly thing in the world. He is also anxiously waiting for the tournament.
