Yes, we're moving!  We'll be going to the new Chess.com Community club (https://www.chess.com/club/chess-com-community) and becoming part of the regular rotation of community events.

This will result in promotion by chess.com, which should result in a greater level of participation.  It should also result in more help with fair play issues.

See the official announcement in the community club here: https://www.chess.com/announcements/view/announcing-untitled-tuesday

What Will Change?

There are several things that will change.

  • Prizes are now a possibility!  We will not have a prize for every tournament; there will instead be a monthly best move prize, with premium membership for the winner.  There will also be a streamer prize.
  • We will no longer be able to enforce our current three month rule.  Membership in the Community club is currently open to anyone with no restrictions.  Instead, we will have a 50-game rule.  You will need to play 50 blitz games before you can participate.  If this is insufficient and problems with cheating get significantly worse, we will consider other options.
  • We will no longer have a reminder posted the day before every tournament.  If I understand correctly, the plan is to post a weekly announcement with the upcoming schedule.  I will plan to post a reminder here in the Untitled Tuesday club for a few weeks to help with the transition.
  • We will move to the same schedule as Titled Tuesday, running at the same time.  Our tournament should wrap up faster than Titled Tuesday, allowing you to watch the final rounds of Titled Tuesday after Untitled Tuesday completes.  Untitled Tuesday currently takes around an hour and a half or so, while Titled Tuesday takes around two and a half hours.
  • We do not currently have a way to block titled players from joining, but running concurrently with Titled Tuesday should help prevent this.  If this proves insufficient protection, we'll need the developers to implement something.
  • Running concurrently with Titled Tuesday also means there's a chance that chess.com's live coverage of Titled Tuesday could occasionally check in on Untitled Tuesday, especially since our final rounds will be completing before the critical final rounds of Titled Tuesday.
  • This will also mean moving to two events, an early event and a late event, on the same schedule as Titled Tuesday.  For Titled Tuesday's schedule, see https://www.chess.com/article/view/titled-tuesday.  Those tournaments run at 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM in Los Angeles, 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM in New York, 17:00 and 23:00 in Paris, and 21:30 and 3:30 in Mumbai.  Previously we alternated between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM Pacific time; this means our early tournament will be at the same time, and our late tournament will be an hour and a half earlier.
  • We will drop our monthly Saturday event.  The Community club already has a rotation of other events.  If Untitled Tuesday doesn't fit your schedule, perhaps one of the other events does.
  • The annual leaderboard is uncertain, although any member of the community could still track it in a forum thread in the Community club.
  • We also get a cool new logo.

This club will continue to exist.  It holds all the old archives of Untitled Tuesday's early years.  But we will no longer host tournaments in here.  All activity will now be in the Community club.  I'll see you over there in our new home!

What do I need to do to participate?

To participate, you will need to join the Chess.com Community club: https://www.chess.com/club/chess-com-community

That will give you access to all tournaments in that club, including Untitled Tuesday, Bullet Brawl, and any other tournaments that become part of the regular rotation.
