So this week sees the Brazil Open match come to a rather disappointing end with games timing out for both our and their team. Slip up are easy when playing online, especially when you’ve been thinking about your game right up to the end of your time. The internet going down, a sudden appointment, being unable to find your phone or laptop can then cost you. Don’t worry about it, it’s just for fun.

In the Iceland game @nukaquantum has secured two wins with lovely mates, easily overpowering his opponent. @Yaaaxcomigen is suffering on board one, fighting for the draw in one, whilst @davejohnlucas is ahead in one of his games on board two but in trouble on the other. @Cam927 results will definitely play an important role in this match!

@carloshalpinos has pulled us back evens against the Czech Republic, in one of the few matches to see us outgraded, soundly, on nearly every board. Despite this, we’re doing well on several board and keeping a number even, good going!

@gormcla2 has made sure we at least have a draw in the U1400 match against Belgium, and its down to the two David’s to seal the deal. It’s not looking good for David Lucas, six points down and the wall of his opponent’s pawns about to march forward, but the other two matches are yet to take off.

@7sistersboy finally took down his opponent in his first game of the U1000 South Africa, and his rook and knight v rook ending should allow him to push his pawn advantage home. Due to the 2-2 score, its been up to this junior to win the match and he’s gradually getting there!

Four timeouts in the Iran match (there seems to be a re-occurring pattern) means we have smashed the game with a lead of 7 – 2, but @Tinytim1234567891011 is looking to take us one point higher with his advantage. The kings are both wide in the open, but Tomos’s queen and knight should be far stronger than his opponent’s bishop and two knights (one of which hasn’t moved).

Another few timeouts means our lead has vanished in the U1800 versus Algeria, and it’s all balanced on my game. After a good combination I was a minor piece in the lead, but moments later I proceeded to blunder. Sorry! Plenty of play left though.

Finally, the TMCL league match continues, with some of games looking on the awkward side. Despite the 2 – 1 advantage we definitely need to fight our way for a victory.
