Victory versus 5 For Fighting!
So, thanks to some daring chess from @Greg Griffiths its a 3.5 - 2.5 defeat of 5 For Fighting, a non-country team that challenged us. They look to be from all over the place (Canada, Poland and Brazil). Greg prooved why you always fight on and how, even when materially down, you can get some multiple peace mates - well done.
Thanks to myself and @Jonathan Thomas we've drawn bag to 2 - 2 in the U1800 against Croatia and my second game has a significant advantage. Other games are pretty even, with slight advantages for one player or the other. Welcome back to @Andrew Powell, vacation has managed to keep his games going.
@David Lucas has allowed us to take the lead in the U1200 against The Netherlands, a nice mate in one whilst his opponent timed out in the other. @Ieuan Brew is fighting but he's suffering in one, so its up to you and @Josh Morgan to get the results in your other ones! Remember, one more win will make it a drawn match minimum!
In the open against Sweden we're simply trashing them 6.5 - 1.5 with only @Martyn Griffiths havng his two games to play. The U1800 he's fighting seems to know what he's doing and isn't letting our 2000 player take any easy points!
Finally, our U1400 against Greece is making @David Lucas fight for the points despite us winning by 6 - 2. He's having a hard time in one but in the other is fairly level pegging and could easily pick up at least a draw - go Dave! As we're down to just one player still going in the U1400, I'll start setting out new challenges. Same position in our Open, but I know @Martyn Griffiths isn't always interested in playing more than two games and we'll need all our best players in the open!
The picture shows one of Greg's victories (as black) against Reznor96. The winning move led to a beauty win of the queen/mate
