Webinar 74. How to Attack and Defend on the Flank

You know many chess players start the attack on the kingside immediately after they finish their development. Sometimes this plan makes sense, but very often doesn’t. How to realize that the position allows you to start the attack? The center indicates it.
When the center is closed with pawn chains or pawn structure is already defined there, the attack on the flank is the most logical plan. It can be either an attack on the enemy king or just an attack to gain some positional achievements on a certain side of the board.
However, if you decide to play on the flank, you should always remember several golden rules, such as “Don’t attack when the center is unstable!” or “Counter a flank attack playing in the center!” This is what I decided to cover on my next webinar!
