White To Find Best Move, by BigOto

After rooting around in my computer's files, looking for a good chess puzzle, I found this one, from a few years ago:

Black to Find Best Move

Look at the chess board. White is ahead in material by about four pawns. However, black can checkmate in a few moves if white doesn’t defend against black’s attack when black does Bh3. However, defending means losing material.

Bh3 pins the pawn against the king, so white can’t capture black’s bishop with his g-pawn. If white doesn’t defend, black can do Qxg2#.

1.      ???      …Bh3

2.      Qxb7  …Qxg2#

White’s only defense against …Bh3 is g3, which prevents checkmate. This leads to white losing a rook. White can then take black’s bishop with his other rook.

1.      ???      …Bh3

2.      g3       …Bxf1

3.      Rxf1

White is still ahead by two pawns, but black is catching up, and now has a better chance. If it was white’s move, he could defend with Qc3, which allows him to boot away the black bishop with his h-pawn without black just taking the pawn.
