Forty-two young chess players converged at the new site of the Scholastic Chess tournament series at Washington Middle School.  The turnout was excellent in the high-school division, as teams worked hard to get four players from each school.

Pictured in the photo, Justin Garcia and Ben Kim tied for first place at 4-1.  Justin won the first-place trophy on tiebreaks.  Sixth-grader Austin Uezu took 3rd place in the High School section on tie-breaks over the other three players who finished at 3.5 - 1.5.  Baixuan Hu won the Middle School section with a 5-0 score, and Tom Antin took the Elementary School section with 4.5-0.5.  Tiago Lum won the Primary School section.
