World League 2.0 - An In Depth Guide

Hello fellow ARC member and welcome to World League 2.0! The more complex side of the ARC is finally here for you. Warning: If you do not care about complex competitions you are about to be bored to tears... just saying. As most of you know the two new, main features added to the World League are:

  • Country Leaders
  • Country vs Country

What does a leader do?

A leader is someone who leads. The responsibilities of a WL2 Leader would be to:

  • Recruit members of the same flag
  • Motivate teammates to join the Club Matches and Vote Chess games
  • Reward faithful teammates for doing a job well done
  • Lead their country to victory in a country vs country match

Just to let you know, the first three are just suggestions that I came up with that I hope to put into practice as future leader of United Kingdom. Wink

How does Country vs Country work?

A country vs country match involves two countries and two leaders trying to get as many points as possible in 2 months. All CvC matches start on the 1st of any month to avoid any confusion on when a match ends. The advantages for your country to win a CvC match are fantastic. For every point earned during those 2 months are doubled. So a 2-0 win in a club match would count as 4 points, 3 members that helped us win a Vote Chess game would count as 6 points! There is of course a catch, for every winner there is a loser, and there are horrible consequences for losing a CvC match. For every point earned during those 2 months for the losing team are halved. So a 2-0 win in a club match would only count as 1 point, and 4 members that helped us win a Vote Chess game would only count as 2 points.

That stinks! What if United States (344 Points) gets a double point bonus just because they beat up Turkey (1 Point) for 2 months!

There are rules for who can take on who. In a CvC match there is an Attacker and there is a Defender. There is only one rule for the Defender to follow:

  • A Defender's got to defend their country

There are 3 rules for the Attacker to follow:

  • A country cannot attack a country with less than half their points or more than double their own (stay within a x2 ratio)
  • A country cannot attack a country that doesn't have a leader to defend it
  • A country cannot attack if it has had an offensive defeat within the past 2 months

Therefore, according to the current rules, as of right now, the US has to sit out Round 1 of WL2. Some reason I'm thinking that Romania will spring up out of nowhere.

Attacker Rule 1 Reason: The US cannot attack and blow out Turkey and Turkey cannot attack the US for the fun of it.

Attacker Rule 2 Reason: Although France is within point range of India, all of India cannot attack France with lonely TotemMeister all by himself to defend it (unless he becomes a leader of course).

Attacker Rule 3 Reason: I don't think that someone who has just lost an offensive battle should have the liberty to attack again in the very next round. Sorry, but that's just the way it is.

Okay, cool. But how do I become the leader of my country now?

Becoming the leader of a country should be simple enough. All you need is:

  • At least 1 Point for your country
  • At least 1 endorsement from a fellow ARC teammate with the same flag as you

You may run for leader or vote for a leader at this link here: CLICK ME!

Everyone has until May 1st to achieve both these goals. However, if by May 1st you are the only one running for your country you will be declared by default the leader (even if you have 0 endorsements).

A leader may elect a co-leader to help share in the responsibilities. As long as the co-leader agrees to taking the job.

Upon becoming a leader of a country you will automatically become an admin.

How long does this ARC Event last for?

There will be 3 Rounds of CvC matches this year at these dates:

APRIL - BYE

MAY AND JUNE - Round 1

JULY - BYE

AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER - Round 2

OCTOBER - BYE

NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER - Round 3

JANUARY (next year) - Award Ceremony

Depending on how well it goes and how many people take part, I'll look into making a new season for 2017.

What do the leaders and players get out of all this?

The unity of teamwork, the thrill of competition and a whole new system to playing chess and earning trophies for it. Members should be rewarded for a job well done from their leaders and the leaders will be greatly rewarded for a job well done from me. The top 3 leaders with the best records by the end of the year receive the following rewards:

1st Prize: 20 Trophies and $10.00!!*

2nd Prize: 15 Trophies!!*

3rd Prize: 10 Trophies!!*

*If a country is run by 2 leaders, rewards will be split evenly

I do believe that we don't have enough active members to start this but I will press on with an early start on it for Eragon's sake. Smile That, and also the fact that I really want to be part of this as well. Tongue Out Everything is available for improvement upon. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions please let me know! I'd love to hear them. Smile

Best of luck to you and your country,

SA Atomic_Rift Cool
