It'’s hard to tell which is more exciting...
• The record-breaking performance of GM Jovakhir Sindarov in winning the 2026 FIDE Candidates Tournament with a round to spare. More important than the €70,000 prize, Sindarov will be the next challenger to GM Gukesh Dommaraju for the world title.
• The victory of Women’s star, GM Vaishali Rameshbabu, in a final round showdown. Vaishali is the older sister of GM Praggnananda, marking the first sister-brother combination to both reach a Candidates, let alone in the same year. Going into the final round an incredible six players were still in contention to win the tournament, but only co-leaders Assaubayeva and Vaishali had their fate in their own hands. Everything would be decided in their games.
Vaishali had gone into the event as the lowest-rated player—and even ends as the lowest-rated player on the live rating list—but that hides the potential obvious in a peak rating above 2500 and the fact that she's won two FIDE Women's Grand Swiss tournaments in a row. She also finished the 2024 Women's FIDE Candidates in Toronto with a staggering five wins in a row.

Now that the Silverdale CC has celebrated its one-year anniversary and hosts 88 members signed up on Chess.com it was time to promote our passed pawn from what was basically an isolated landing page to a full-featured Website that features:

+ A Calendar of Events for tournaments at the Club, tournaments around the Puget Sound, and select worldwide events,
+ Chess Lessons. A curated directory of online Chess Lessons and instructional videos including content by Club members.
+ Streamed Lectures Created by and for Silverdale CC members, our YouTube channel includes lectures by four-time U.S. champion GM Yasser Seirawan, renowned chess commentator and teacher, GM Ben Finegold, coach of the U.S. Women’s Chess Olympiad Team, GM Melik Khatchiyan, International Arbiter Judit Sztaray, and founder of the National Scholastic Chess Foundation, a Chess Educator of the Year, and Hikaru Nakamurs's lifelong coach and stepfather, FM Sunil Weeramantry,
