Bobby Fischer was having a very good performance at the Interzonal held in Palma de Mallorca in 1970. He had 14.5 points out of 19. His only loss was to the Great Dane, Bent Larsen. In round 21, he was to face the Brazilian prodigy Henrique Mecking. It can be argued that in that year, Fischer was Fischer and Larsen was Larsen, but that Mecking was not yet Mecking at his best. Fischer selected the Nimzo-Larsen Opening. I think "Attack" is an exaggeration if used in the name of the opening. Fischer was as usual the instructor in this game. He won it and the next three to finish with 18.5/23. Behind with 15 were Geller, Larsen, and Huebner. Mecking and Panno ended with 12.5 in places 11-12.
