After a rigorous qualification cycle, this Sunday will kick off the 2020 Speed Chess Championship. With GM Hikaru Nakamura and GM Magnus Carlsen listed as the top players in the field, this year's competition stands to be the toughest edition of the event in its four-year history.

With so much on the line, Chess.com is offering over $1,000 in cash prizes in addition to diamond memberships in this year's Speed Chess Championship Fantasy Contest. In this contest, players will be challenged to pick their match winners and the margin of victory to score points throughout the competition.

Submission are due by Sunday, November 1 at 9 a.m. Pacific Time (17:00 Central European Time) so don't wait to make your picks and be sure to tune in starting right after that deadline for Chess.com's opening coverage of the Speed Chess Championship as GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave takes on Nihal Sarin. Chess.com's Speed Chess Championship Fantasy Contest

This year's free fantasy contest promises to be one of the most chaotic, exciting fantasy formats ever introduced, as every game played between November 1 and December 13 matters. Each participant will make their picks in the Speed Chess Championship bracket, but will also have to select the margin of victory in key pairings.

In the round of 16, participants will be awarded two points for selecting the correct match winner, but will score ten points if they correctly predict the margin of victory. If the participant selected a margin of victory within one point of the match's final result, five points will be awarded.

From the quarterfinals onward, participants will select which player will advance to the following round, with each player's point total weighted by their seeding within the event.

The overall winner will take home a $500 first-place prize, while second place will win $250, third will win $150 while one random participant will take home a $100 prize. Players finishing in fourth through tenth place will receive three free months of Chess.com diamond membership, while players finishing 11th through 20th place will win a one-month diamond membership.
