Chess.com is pleased to announce that our Chess Terms project is now live! You can find the first wave of more than 50 chess terms at Chess.com/terms. We plan on expanding this glossary of terms frequently, so keep an eye on the Chess.com/terms page.

Chess Terms serve as a glossary or index of chess-related rules, ideas, concepts, checkmates, tactics, and much more that are designed to help and teach all Chess.com users. With Chess Terms we hope Chess.com continues to serve you as the number-one hub for chess in the world.

What Is A Chess Term?

Chess terms are short articles that cover specific topics. They have explanations, diagrams, tests, and even links to video lessons. They can be used as active learning/teaching material (for students or coaches) or as a reference for a multitude of topics. At launch, there are more than 50 chess terms for you to peruse, and we are adding more all of the time.
