The first two games of the 1985 World Championship Match between challenger Garry Kasparov and world champion Anatoly Karpov were quite exciting. In both games Kasparov took the edge and went all out for a win. In the first game he suceeded, but in the second game Karpov defended well and held on for a draw. Kasparov was leading by a score of 1.5-0.5 after 2 games and was the more optimistic person into the game. Going into Game 3, he had the White pieces:

And so, once again Kasparov went for the attack and had an advantage in developent at the opening until Karpov's strong move 14.... b5! which greatly increased the mobility of his two pieces that were out of the game. Soon, after a couple of exchanges, Kasprov's advantage was wiped out and both players agreed to a draw.

Thus, after 3 games, Kasparov leads by the score of 2-1.
