A quarter of the games of th 1985 World Championship mathc between Garry Kasparov and Anatoly Karpov were over adn Karpov was leading b the score of 3.5-2.5. Kasparov does seem to have upped his game after defeats in games 4 and 5 which turned his lead to a deficit, and he has got to keep up this form. Going into Game 7, he has got the advantage of playing White. Can he equalize with the win? Or will Karpov take the lion's edge with yet another win?

In Game 7, both players attacked. Kasparov sacrificed a pawn on move 19 to increase the mobilityof his pieces to attack, but Karpov, after accepting the sacrifice started his own attack that was faster. By a sereis of exchanges, Kasaprov was able to stop the attack, but he was a pawn down going into the endgaem, and about to lose another. Howver, a great exchange sacrifice allowed him to salvage a draw and stay within striking distance of Karpov.

So after 7 games, Karpov leads 4-3.
