With Karpov winning the most recent game, Game 4 is seemed as if that he has got into his stride, so Game 5 was going to be a very crucial game, with Kasparov playing White.

A great win by Karpov as Black as he took the advantage within the first ten moves and patiently converted it into a winning position. Kasparov defended well, but the damage had already been done and ultimately, he was forced to resign.

So, after 5 games out of 24, Karpov leads 3-2.
